Purpose

Safe Zone is a symbol of the University of California, Irvine’s commitment to diversity and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community on campus.  Open to any campus affiliate, the program will train individuals to identify as Allies that are informed, supportive, and affirming of our LGBT communities at UCI. Safe Zone will create a more welcoming campus climate for LGBT and Ally faculty, staff, and students.  Sponsored by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Resource Center, the program will foster a community that can network and embrace sexual and gender identities. 

Goals

●       Identify Safe Spaces and Allies for the LGBTQ Community at UCI

●       Provide Awareness and Education about the LGBTQ Community at UCI, that will empower Allies and transform the campus climate to better support UCI’s LGBTQ population

●       Establish a Social, Supportive, and Visible network of Allies

●       Provide Resources from campus, local, and statewide agencies related to the LGBTQ Communit

Please complete the following Safe Zone participant registration form. Registration forms must be completed at least 2 days prior to the training date. You will receive email confirmation once we have added you to the list of participants for a particular training. An email will also be sent to you the week before or during the training as a reminder and with training logistics (such as location).
