Books on the African American LGB Experience
A huge variety of African American books concerning with issues of LGB. Includes 216 popular titles ranging from popular authors like Maya Angelou, to feminist scholars like bell hooks.
AmASSI
AmASSI is a non-profit, community based health, wellness and cultural affirmation center. AmASSI is an acronym for the African American Advocacy, Support-Services & Survival Institute. They provide preventive health for HIV/AIDS, STDs, cancer, diabetes, etc., psychological and therapeutic assistance and math and literacy tutoring, skills building opportunities and empowerment. At the AmASSI Center, community members are culturally respected and affirmed, and all services are free or low cost.
Gay and Lesbian Arabs
Al-Bab aims to introduce non-Arabs to the Arabs and their culture. Western explorers of the 18th and 19th centuries portrayed the Arab world as a strange, exotic and sometimes terrifying place. Al-Bab seeks to portray the Arab world neither as an object of fear nor as a cultural curiosity - fascinating though it may be. Within this site is a large resource page for different websites concerning gay and lesbian arabs, providing various links including blogs, books, films, music, etc.
GLAS
The Gay and Lesbian Arabic Society (GLAS) is an international organization established in 1988 in the USA with worldwide chapters. They serve as a networking organization for Gays and Lesbians of Arab descent or those living in Arab countries. They aim to promote positive images of Gays and Lesbians in Arab communities worldwide, in addition to combating negative portrayals of Arabs within the Gay and Lesbian community. They also provide a support network for their members while fighting for human rights wherever they are oppressed. They are part of the global Gay and Lesbian movement seeking an end to injustice and discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Gay Asia and Asian Gay and Lesbian Resources by Utopia
Utopia, is an award-winning website about Gay Asian destinations in Asia. This website has a list of the different countries in Asia and the many activities one can do in each. Utopia continues to pursue its original goal to improve the lives of Asian lesbians and gay men, to build community, and to foster a deeper understanding of gay life in the region.
AIDS Services in Asian Communities
AIDS Services In Asian Communities (ASIAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing culturally sensitive and language appropriate HIV-related services to Asians and Pacific Islanders and their partners, friends, family members, and service providers in the Philadelphia area.
GAPSN
GAPSN is a brotherhood of gay and bisexual Asian Pacific Islander (API) men supporting and empowering each other. We offer something for everyone through our programming. We create a safe space for all gay and bisexual men through our socials, raps, and political-advocacy work.
