Domestic Violence

Gay Men's Domestic Violence Project
The Gay Men's Domestic Violence Project supports victims and survivors through education, advocacy and direct services. Understanding that the serious public health issue of domestic violence is not gender specific, we serve men in relationships with men, regardless of how they identify, and stand ready to assist them in navigating through abusive relationships.

LA Gay and Lesbian Center: Family Violence/Partner Abuse
If your partner is abusive or if you are abusive to your partner, the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center's STOP Domestic Violence services can help you. Their services are provided by LGBT-domestic violence specialists, including certified domestic violence counselors and mental health professionals who have been trained in LGBT-domestic violence issues. Fees are based on a sliding scale, and no one is turned away for lack of funds.

National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs
The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) addresses the pervasive problem of violence committed against and within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and HIV-affected communities. NCAVP is dedicated to creating a national response to the violence plaguing these communities. Further, NCAVP supports existing anti-violence organizations and emerging local programs in their efforts to document and prevent such violence.

National Domestic Violence Hotline
The National Domestic Violence Hotline answers more than 16,000 calls per month from victims, survivors, friends and family members, law enforcement personnel, domestic violence advocates and the general public. Hotline advocates provide support and assistance to anyone involved in a domestic violence situation, including those in same-sex relationships, male survivors, those with disabilities and immigrant victims of domestic violence. All calls to the National Domestic Violence Hotline are confidential.

The Network/La Red
The Network/La Red was formed to address battering in lesbian, bisexual women's, and transgender communities. Through a) the formation of a community-based multi-cultural organization in which battered/formerly battered lesbians, bisexual women, and transgender folks hold leadership roles; b) community organizing, education, and the provision of support services; and c) coalition-building with other movements for social change and social justice, they seek to create a culture in which domination, coercion, and control are no longer accepted and operative social norms.
