Internships Positions, 2008-2009
The internships available at the LGBT Resource Center for the 2008-2009 academic year reflect the growing and changing needs of the Queer community at UCI. We aim to increase visibility through outreach, technology, and programming.
If selected to be a student intern at the Center, you will be required to participate in fall training and ongoing training throughout the academic year. You will also be required to attend the All-University Leadership Conference. Your attendance at the Intern Passdown meeting is optional but highly recommended. Please see the dates listed below.

Position Descriptions
Graphics & Technology Coordinator
- Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in administrative and secretarial tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
- Manage, design, and update content on the LGBTRC website as necessary in conjunction with other student staff under the direction of the Program Coordinator and Director
- Design graphic publicity for ongoing programs, workshops, services, and events (flyers, posters, pamphlets, postcards, etc.) in conjunction with other members of the staff team as necessary
- Manage online community tools that promote the LGBTRC and its services and programs
- Collaborate with Outreach Coordinator to organize the distribution and removal of advertising materials
Participate in LGBTRC staff meetings, updating team on projects, program needs, events, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Outreach Coordinator
- Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in administrative and secretarial tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
- Develop community outreach projects and serve as a liaison between the LGBTRC and community and campus partners including UCI student organizations, Orange County Gay/Straight Alliances, and campus departments
- Develop and coordinate outreach events and booths at campus events including Welcome Week, Celebrate UCI, Homecoming, and New Student Orientation
- Coordinate the distribution and removal of advertising and outreach materials for all LGBTRC services and events in collaboration with other staff members as necessary
- Assist professional staff with visibility projects including tabling, passive programming
- Manage alumni database and contact list
- Participate in LGBTRC staff meetings, updating team on projects, program needs, events, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Workshop Coordinator (Safe Zone)
- Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in administrative and secretarial tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
- Manage, organize, and respond to Safe Zone participant and training requests and/or registration including training, implementing, and assessment of Safe Zone
- Design, coordinate, and implement new workshops based on current issues or interests concerning LGBT community/people in coordination with other Workshop Coordinator
- Collaborate with the Graphics & Technology Coordinator to advertise the LGBTRC workshops with an emphasis on the Safe Zone program
- Manage and maintain Safe Zone listserv and Ally listing on the LGBTRC website
- Responsible for the updating of the LGBTRC main calendar in regards to workshop events
- Manage, file, and create end of quarter reports of workshops and evaluations
- Create, assemble, and distribute Safe Zone Ally placards, stickers, and additional resources
- Participate in LGBTRC staff meetings, updating team on projects, program needs, events, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Workshop Coordinator (Speaker's Bureau)
- Work 8-10 hours per week for the academic year, assisting in administrative and secretarial tasks for the Resource Center when necessary
- Manage, organize, and respond to workshop requests when SpeakerŐs Bureau is requested or necessary for any LGBTRC workshop including training, implementing, and assessment of Speaker's Bureau
- Design, coordinate, and implement new workshops based on current issues or interests concerning LGBT community/people in coordination with other Workshop Coordinator
- Collaborate with the Graphics & Technology Coordinator to advertise LGBTRC workshops with an emphasis on the Speaker's Bureau program
- Manage and maintain Speaker's Bureau listserv
- Responsible for the updating of the LGBTRC main calendar in regards to workshop events
- Manage, file, and create end of quarter reports of workshops and evaluations
- Participate in LGBTRC staff meetings, updating team on projects, program needs, events, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
